Betty J. Davis, 94, of Grinnell, died Thursday, August 1, 2024, at UnityPoint-Grinnell.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation. Burial will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Memorials in her name can be sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Betty Jean Davis was born on June 22, 1930, to Gilmore and Grace Marie (Elliott) Robbins Sr, in Grinnell. She graduated from Grinnell High School in 1947. Betty was married to Robert Bullock until his passing in 1972. In 1973, she married William Davis until his passing in 1982. Betty married James J. Gould in 1992 until his passing in 2003. Betty worked as an Assistant Accounting Director for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company for 22 years before retiring. She also owned Apple Craft in Grinnell. She loved crafts and held classes so others might enjoy them as well. Anything from cross stitching, crocheting and miscellaneous arts. In earlier years, she and Robert enjoyed raising their children, traveling, square dancing, camping and playing cards with family and friends. Later, she and Jim enjoyed participating in ZaGaZig Shrine functions with her son, Robert Jr. and his family. She cherished spending time with her family and the many vacations she spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved to sing and was an avid reader and cheered for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Her nieces always took her to get her nails done, having a "girls day". Betty and Marilyn had mother-daughter trips every fall to Wisconsin. She was always thinking of others and of course was always there for her grandchildren.

Betty will be remembered by her daughter, Marilyn (Gary) Bacon of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Daniel (Trisha) Beyer of Lynnville, Brian (Danielle Triplett) Beyer of Grinnell, Kindra (Gerald) Neal of Grinnell, Stacy (Dennis) Battaglia of Illinois, Heather (Max) Garcia of Des Moines, Eric (Katie) Small of Des Moines, Karla (Robert) Silvius of Orlando, Florida and Brian Bacon of Brooklyn; her sister, Pat Conn of Grinnell; daughter-in-law, Shirley Bullock; 15 great grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Bullock, William Davis and James Gould; son, Robert Bullock Jr; two grandsons, Robert Bullock III and Jamie Bullock; sisters, Margaret Olson and Mary Henderson; her brother, Gilmore "Doc" Robbins; niece, Deborah Penning and nephew, James Olson.
