Brian Torbensen, 56, of Grinnell died Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.

There will be no service. Brian's wishes were to honor him with a random act of kindness. "May the wind be always at your back and the sun upon your face and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars." Memorials may be directed to the family.

Brian Douglas Torbensen was born on April 25, 1970, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Celeste Torbensen. He attended and graduated from Sioux City High School. Brian was a handy-man and would work on almost everything. He enjoyed working on bicycles and model cars. Brian was an excellent guitar player, as well as drawing. He was quite the jokester.

Brian is survived by his children, Seth Torbensen of Grinnell, Acacia Torbensen of Brooklyn and Austin Torbensen of Bloomfield, Iowa; two grandchildren, Gracie and Uriah Gus; and one sister, Karen Westbrook.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Celeste, and brother, Michael Torbensen.
