Charles Cowman, 74, of Grinnell died Friday, October 15, 2021, at MercyOne in Des Moines, Iowa. As per his wishes, his remains will be scattered at Lake Red Rock. Memorials for Charles can be made out in his name and sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Chuck was born on August 5, 1947, to Floyd and Ruby (Busick) Cowman in Newton, Iowa.  He attended school in Newton and Knoxville, Iowa. On December 11, 1972, he married Doretta Pimlott in Unionville, Missouri. To this union a daughter, Steph, was born.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to auctions and flea markets. He worked at Miracle and later Farmhand. Chuck was Chuck…you knew if he liked you or not. His personality will be remembered.

He will be missed by his wife, Doretta, of Grinnell; son-in-law, Steve (Carol) Scott; sisters, Marlis (Dan) Moore of Carlisle and Vonda (Paul) Green of Carolina Beach, North Carolina; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Cowman; his mother and step-father, Ruby (John) Kliment; daughter, Steph Scott in 2004; brothers, Raymond and Rick; and his cat, Lil Tiger.
