David Lee Balgden Sr., 64, of Grinnell, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at his house.

There will be a private graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family and sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

David was born on August 26, 1959, the son of Roy and Shirley (Clark) Blagden in Grinnell, Iowa. He attended BGM schools. David was a quiet person and kept to himself. He was always there for his family and enjoyed their gatherings.

David is survived by his daughter, Evelyn (Michael) McDonald of Sedalia, Missouri; grandchildren, Stephanie, Jamie, Hayley, Skylar, David III and Jaden; great grandchildren, Madelyn, Elijah, Caleb and Jetson; one brother, Duane (Pam) Blagden; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Jr., and two sisters, Patricia Haines and Sandra Roop.
