Janice L. VanErsvelde, 81, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Montezuma Specialty Care, in Montezuma.

A Celebration Gathering for Janice and Freddie will be held on Saturday,  February 15, 2025 from 2pm to 5pm at Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service. Memorials in her name may be sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Janice Leone VanErsvelde was born on July 14, 1940, the daughter of Vernon "Red" and Maxine Goodwin Turner. She attended Montezuma Schools.

On February 12, 1965, she was married to Freddie VanErsvelde at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell. Janice worked at DeLong Sportsware in various positions. After Leaving DeLong she became a seamstress for Bob Reimer Clothing. She later opened her own alterations business, at home, becoming the second generation seamstress in her family. Her mother was 1 ^st generation, Janice was 2 ^nd generation, followed by her daughter, April. Sewing and embroidery were her passions, as well as gathering with friends over coffee and sharing laughs.  She liked going fishing and camping with her family. What she loved the most was anything her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing. Family was her priority. Janice was an inspiration to all and will be missed.

Janice will be remembered by her husband of nearly 67 years, Freddie; their children, Debbie (Tom) Patten, Joe VanErsvelde, Eugene (Julie) VanErsvelde and April (Rodney) Isaac, all of Grinnell; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, with another one on the way; and her brothers, Don and Dennis Turner.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
