Koty Christopher Duchene, 33, of Colfax died on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at UnityPoint Health-Lutheran, in Des Moines.

A Celebration Gathering will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Quarry Springs Park, 200 N. Park Road, Colfax, Iowa 50054. Memorials may be directed to the family in c/o Tina Bodkins and mailed to Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Koty was born on September 17, 1993, to Tina Roam and Christopher Duchene in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Colfax-Mingo High School in 2012. Koty enjoyed tinkering with cars, demo derbies, motorcycle rides and just enjoying time with his family. He loved all his nieces, nephews and cousins. Koty was always there for his family, especially his daughter, Aurora. He was a soft-hearted and giving man.

Koty will be missed by his daughter, Aurora Duchene; parents, Tina and Clint Bodkins of Colfax, Christopher (Stacey) Duchene of Grinnell, siblings, Kristen (Bobby) Duchene of Colfax, Katlin (Simon) Allison of Newton, Kaylea (CJ) Fridley of Eddyville and Broughdy (Brent) Beckett of Victor; maternal grandmother, Jean Roam; paternal grandmother, Vicki Duchene; paternal grandfather, John Duchene; girlfriend, Macy Doty and her children; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Roam; maternal uncle, Byron Roam; and cousins, Ryan Roam and Devin Beintema.
