Lucille "Jody" Phipps, 76, died Sunday, March 31, 2024, at her home in Grinnell.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date, at Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Cox-Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to PALS and sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Jody was born on February 11, 1948, the daughter of Marion Floyd and Minnie Lucille (Pagel) See. She graduated from Grinnell High School. On February 11, 1971, she was united in marriage to Richard Phipps. Jody retired from Donaldson's, where she worked as a scheduler.

She was a collector of many things, especially her QVC jewelry and purses. You could always find Jody dressed in bright colors, especially red or turquoise. Jody and Richard had ventured to Texas a few times and New Mexico to visit their son. She loved her flowers and feeders for the hummingbirds. Jody's personality was one of a kind and will be missed.

Jody will be remembered by her son, Shane (Nancy) Phipps of Carlsbad, New Mexico; her three grandchildren, Katie Bilberry, Megan (Antonio "Smiley") Valdez and Ross Jacob Harmeson; four great grandchildren, Jase Bilberry, Gage Bilberry, Anastasia Valdez and Griffin Valdez; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard in 2015; and her sister, Donna Tiedemann.
