Marvin Stewart, 89, of Grinnell, died on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family and sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

Marvin was born on May 30, 1934, the son of Bruce and Edna (Rodgers) Stewart in Lucas, Iowa. He was raised in Lucas and attended schools in Lucas and Chariton until 1945. The family moved to Grinnell, where Marvin graduated from Grinnell High School. Marvin joined the United States Air Force in October of 1953, serving in Korea.

On October 25, 1957, married Katharine Stebbins in Tucson, Arizona. The couple made their home in Grinnell. Marvin worked for Clark Brink Sales, Regis Inventory and after 22 years, he retired from Thermogas in 1985. He was president of Toastmaster. Marvin enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting and spent many hours bird watching.

Marvin is survived by three sons, Keith (Bonnie), Kurt and Mark Stewart, all of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy on June 8, 2023; his parents and infant brother, Larry.
