Nancy Faye VanWyk, 67, of Grinnell died Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.

There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11am to 2pm at the Eagle’s Club in Grinnell. Memorials may be directed to Todd Fortner.

Nancy was born on June 5, 1959, to Leroy and Alice (Roof) Smith in Grinnell. She attended Grinnell schools. Nancy was a seamstress for Delong’s and later Rock Creek Athletics. In 1991, she married Greg VanWyk. She was always a jokester and was always up for an adventure. Nancy enjoyed fishing, dancing, bonfires and get-togethers. She loved being a nana to Chase and Gage.

Nancy is survived by her son, Todd Fortner of Dexter, Iowa; grandsons, Chase Fortner of Grinnell and Gage Fortner of Pleasantville, Iowa; sister, Diane McIlrath of Tama; and many loving family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Greg; and her parents.
