Steven A. Uroda, 68, of Grinnell and formerly of Durham, North Carolina, went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Steve was born on June 13, 1956, in Wyandotte, Michigan, the only son of Anthony and Mary (Pierce) Uroda.  He attended school there
and following his education, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in 1975.  He proudly served in California, Okinawa and Iwakuni Japan and Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.

He worked in security at Durham County Jail, North Carolina State Prison and later at Duke University.  He enjoyed watching TV, especially game shows and Jimmy Swaggart's preaching and worship music.  He always looked forward to NFL games, particularly cheering on the Lions, Panthers, and Chiefs. Steve was always spoiling his beloved Shih Tzu, Ruby. One of his greatest pleasures was eating home-cooked meals made by his sister and caregiver, MaryAnn.  He will always be remembered for his kind and generous heart as well as his deep love for his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his siblings, Karen (Dennis) DaPra of Woodhaven, Michigan, MaryAnn Blagden of Grinnell, Tim (Laura) Tack of Tampa, Florida, David (Pat) Tack of Jacksonville, Florida and Beth (Joe) DeMuro of Monteagle, Tennessee; six nieces; and several great nieces and nephews. Joining in heaven with those who preceded him in death are his parents; nephew, Anthony Gene Snell, special friend Diane Harris; and his beloved dogs Blondie, Rusty, Cinnamon and DeeDee.

Graveside Service to be held at a later date at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Wyandotte, Michigan.  Memorials may be directed to PALS (Poweshiek Animal League Shelter) or ASPCA and mailed in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
